Spanish theatre director. Was born in 1976.
Before creating El local theatre together with Africa Navarra and developing his own unique language, he worked for many drama and dance companies. Since 2006 he creates various productions that are touring the world: Venice Biennale, festivals in Brazil, Mexico, Bilbao, Madrid. In 2013 his “Mi gran obra” was included in the NET Festival program.
In his performances David Espinosa challenges the major theatrical companies with their unlimited budgets and unrestrained ambitions. He is quite confident that the theatre can be made directly on the table, for 20 spectators only. David Espinosa knows no bounds, so the helicopters, and the elephants, and the companies of soldiers are at his disposal, and in his version of Shakespeare’s play one can meet dinosaurs or Hulk. To make successful productions the director, who is not deprived of self-irony, needs a table, some plastic figures, a laptop and a bit of courage.
