Michael Thalheimer

Born in 1965 in Frankfurt am Main. Studied acting in Bern. From 2005 to 2008 head director and member of the artistic direction at Deutsches Theater Berlin. Since 2005 opera direction including »The Abduction from the Seraglio« by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin (2009).?Works at Residenztheater in M?nchen, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Burgtheater in Wien and at the Schaub?hne, as well as at Dramaten in Stockholm, the Th??tre National de la Colline in Paris and at Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen.

He has been awarded the 3sat prize for innovation (2001) for »Liliom« by Ferenc Moln?r, the Friedrich Luft prize (2002), the Golden Mask (2006) and the Nestroy prize for »Emilia Galotti« by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (2002), for »The Rats« (2008) and for »The Weavers« by Gerhart Hauptmann (2012). Numerous invitations to Theatertreffen in Berlin, including »Oresteia« by Aeschylus (2007), »The Rats« by Gerhart Hauptmann (2008) and »Medea« by Euripides (2013). Invitations to numerous international Festivals, including Salzburger Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen and Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro in Bogot?. Nominations for Nestroy prize for »Elektra« by Hugo von Hofmannsthal (2013) as well as »Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald« by ?d?n von Horv?th for FAUST 2013. His productions are touring in cities such as New York, Tokyo, Moskow, Rom, Madrid and Mexiko City.
